BEWARE! #101 Commodore's Retreat

I recently stayed in Commdore%26#39;s Retreat. The building is in fiar condition, lots of rotting wood. Beware of Unit #101. We kept the unit very clean, but the owner refused to return our deposit citing pet hair in the unit -- she said I told her our dog did not shed. (Which is absurd.) I paid an extra non-refundable pet deposit upfront to cover any extra cleaning, but the owner still refused to refund the refundable portion of the deposit. There are plenty of other (and nicer) units to rent in the area; I would avoid this one even if you do not have a pet. Who knows what they would claim in the future to retain your deposit? No wonder they did not take credit cards.

BEWARE! #101 Commodore's Retreat

What company did you rent through? Or did you rent directly from the owner?

What was the condition of the beach and pool at Commodore%26#39;s Retreat?

BEWARE! #101 Commodore's Retreat

We rented the condo directly through the owner. (never again!) Commodore%26#39;s Retreat was bulit in 1984 and is in need of some renovation. You can see a lot of exposed wood that is rotting and other similar things that need attention. The pool is off to one side of the building with no view of the ocean, is small, and is not heated. In my opinion, the beach is in good condition, but you can see lots of evidence of erosion and remnants of destroyed beach walkovers.

I agree. After walking around that area in Dec/Jan, I would not stay in Commodore%26#39;s Retreat....and would want a SERIOUS discount for Eastern Shores.

There are soooo many other great places to stay in Seagrove (at approx the same price), I would check out other options.

Good luck!
