Public Transport from Haines City to Orlando?

Is there any public transport from Haines City to Orlando? I will be staying in Haines City in June. I read about bad traffic problems getting into Orlando.

No there is not. You must keep in mind that public transportation here in Florida is NOT what it is in Europe, by any stretch of the imagination. There is only local bus service which is unrealiable even on it%26#39;s best day. Ummm...may I also suggest, based on reading your other posts...you may want to see if you can relocate to an area closer to where you%26#39;ll be spending most of your time. Haines City is quite a drive from the attractions area and if you are unsure of even driving.. I-4 (the main stretch of road you will have to travel) is not easy even for ';seasoned'; drivers. To get an idea of what your drive route and times will be, use Mapquest.com and plug in the start and end address. I just typed in a start of Orlando and end in Haines City... it gave me a time of 45 minutes and having to use I-4, which in reality will mean you can cross that 45 minutes out and make it more like 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. Plugging in Lake Buena Vista (Disney) it gives a drive time of 34 minutes... so really that will be 45 mins to an hour. Take that into consideration because after a long day at the parks... that drive will be very very long.

TheGreenNovice,

Totally agree. Try to get something closer. Other posts in this Forum will assist/guide you on this.

If you do end up in Haines City, you%26#39;re better off to go up Hwy 27 and then back east across 192 than to take I-4. There are still a lot of backups through that area due to the construction on I-4 around 192. During the morning rush hour, you don%26#39;t do a whole lot of rushing anywhere.

Thanks RnToTravel, PELUCH and fla4fun for taking the time to reply.

I%26#39;m afraid I%26#39;m already committed to Haines City as we%26#39;ve booked a villa there. I must say that MapQuest which RnToTravel suggested is brilliant. Also that fla4fun suggestion to use Hwy27 etc seems like a very good idea for avoiding the I4.

I am used to bad traffic here in Dublin so I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll quickly learn when not to travel and using different routes etc. Also we won%26#39;t be going into Orlando every day.

Sorry, just one last thing. Approx what range of time is rush hour?

Morning rush hour is usually between 8 to 9:30-ish. Evening rush starts around 4:30 and end around 6 to 6:30. Also remember that the traffic will be bad period on the weekends. Plan around that and you should do fine. Have a great trip! :-)

TheGreenNovice,

If you buy a detailed map of the area or just browse it on the Internet, you will also find a number of useful secundary roads that could become a good option when traffic is heavy. I lived in that area for several years and those roads literally saved my life.

If you use highway 27 to get to the parks then there is a shortcut you can take .

Head east on 192 until you hit Sherberth Road where you tunr left.

follow this road to the end trun right and you are on Osecola Parkway and all the disney areas are signposted. From here you can also go I-4 to anywhere else.

Thank you RnToTravel for the useful advice on rush hour times. It all helps

Thank you PELUCH and smithy53 for your advice regarding maps and secondary roads. I%26#39;ve been studying them.

I%26#39;ll be an expert before I arrive!

Sorry for not getting back sooner, but I thought I had thanked everyone for various postings I have on this site.
