Inexpensive Beachfront Hotel/Condo in Destin

Is that an oxymoron?? :)

We%26#39;re looking for a beachfront condo or hotel in the Destin area for May (before the Summer rates start). Anyone have any suggestions? Being directly on the beach is a must, but the best I%26#39;ve found is about $140 a night for a 1 bedroom at Pelican. It%26#39;s just 2 adults and a baby, so we don%26#39;t need a lot of space. Any suggestions?

High season doesn%26#39;t start until 5/27/06, and you should be able to find something for $700 to $800 week.

Check out Destin Beach Club - $995 plus tax for 7 nights - they also have 1 bedroom condos which is nice for small families.

I also think Seafarer has 1 bedroom condos...these are a little more pricey, I think.

You might have better luck in Fort Walton Beach/Okaloosa Island... just 5 miles to the west of Destin.

Thank you all for the responses. After checking out some other condo websites, and even some hotel rates, $140 a night (incl tax) for a 1 BR at Pelican sounds like a pretty good deal. I also like the location, since I%26#39;d rather be closer to Destin than Ft. Walton.
