Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi Drivers on I-10

Last year our drive to Destin took forever on I-10. The temporary bridge after Pensacola was bumper to bumper for miles. Then when we got to Niceville it was bumper to bumper all the way to the Bay bridge. It took us more than an hour more to drive.

The first year we went thru Pensacola and that took forever. I googled Mapquest and it said to get off in Milton. We went back that way one year and that was alright. The road getting to 10 took forever but no traffic.

Someone mentioned stopping at the tourist center in Florida and they could give traffic info. Also what is the best time we got to the traffice around 1:00 PM.

You hear a lot of different opinions on the area traffic. I have always exited off I10 and hit 98 through Pensacola to Navarre to Ft Walton.

It is all according to the day of week and what time of the day. It is going to be an hour drive anyway you cut it up. I agree when they get

the bride finished it will be a bit shorter. The thing about it is, when you

get close you are ready to be there. The drive from the Alabama line to

Ft. Walton %26amp; Destin is determined by traffic and idiots. Just sit back, relax and think, self, I have gotten this far, it is not much longer. Watch

out for the FHP in those little black Mustangs

deemack00, pull into the tourist center and take a whizz and ask those nice ladies and they will tell you the shortest route for the day you are traveling. They are paid to give you information and they will do it with a

smile, then laugh when you leave. J/K Seriously listen to them or contact FHP on a sign posted on the highway and they will help. Just

tell them that you had that last beer at Mobile.

Thanks Al, I think we will get off in Pensacola at least you have something to look at.

I%26#39;ll give the little old ladies a holler also.

Is the Donut Hole in Destin reopened we can stop there and Dewey Destins if we come through Ft Walton.

deemack00 - If you are traveling on a Saturday, read this thread.

By the time you reach Destin, Dewey Destin%26#39;s and Donut Hole will probably be closed.

You could not pay me enough money to take that drive on a Saturday. You will get stuck at all the bridges especially Brooks Bridge in Ft. Walton Beach crossing over to Okaloosa Island.

We have always gotten off at Crestview, but was told this week to take PCola and drive the beach road. Of course, i didnt, i went I-10 to Crestview. This was about 7pm on Tuesday and there were NO delays. I imagine, time and day has everything to do with it.

I still question whether or not that is the best way, as it seems to take forever once you get to PCola. Plus the road thru Eglin is being paved now as well. That should be done soon.

OK Semco1 I will not go the Pensacola route. Thanks

We will arrive Sunday July 30. It takes us 4 hours from the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. If we reach the Mid-Bay Bridge early is that best. I couldn%26#39;t figure what the hold up in Niceville was. Once we reached the bridge we had no problems even on Hwy 98. It was Saturday last year we are coming on Sunday this year is that better.
