My husband and I are avid fans of South Beach and usually just do a lot of nothing when we are there. However, in June we are coming down with my 15-year old son and I thought it would be fun to add some outdoor activities to the mix. Is there a good place to go snorkeling, parasailing, rent jetskis or a boat? Are there any teen friendly clubs?

Where will you be staying? Will you have a car?
Check out the marina at 5th and Alton for charters.
10/Ocean for beachfront rentals.
As to clubs, I do not think there is a South Beach hotspot that would cater to a 15 year old boy (though most guys in them eventually start to ACT 15...)
My suggestions would be Lincoln Mall in the afternoon - Lucky Strike (Michigan/N of Lincoln) for a great high tech rock and roll bowling alley. This is a new outpost of an LA concept - flat screen TVs playing videos and sports by day, loud music and a full restaurant and bar. You can all have fun as a family and he won%26#39;t be bored. It%26#39;s over 21 after 7pm.
Enjoy!

We are staying at a friend%26#39;s condo at Ocean Place (225 Collins)and we will have a car. I found some snorkeling/kayaking info at www.miamidade.gov/parks/prog_kayaking.asp which we can do at Crandon Park. Are you familiar at all with that? Thanks for the info on Lucky Strike - that sounds like a blast; and we will check out the marina you mentioned. Thanks for the info!

If you have a car, DEFINITELY do a day trip to Pennecamp Park! It%26#39;s just 1.5 hour drive south of Miami Beach and a GREAT FAMILY ADVENTURE...

This guarantees you the MOM of the YEAR award. Trust me. As long as each of you can swim, the park has all-inclusive boat trips out to a shallow area over the most breathtaking reefs for snorkelling. The crew carefully demonstrates how to snorkel and provides safety equipment. You will want to bring: bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and maybe a dry change of clothes.
If you are reluctant to try this out, you can just go along for the ride and tan on the boat. It%26#39;s BEAUTIFUL out there...
There are also glass bottom boat tours for the non-wet-set... but a 15 year old boy will probably like the undersea adventure - no? Tours are 2 陆 hours long. The Spirit Of Pennekamp departs three times daily, at 9:15, 12:15, and 3:00. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
From 8:00 am until 3:45 pm, they offer canoe and sea kayak rentals for exploring the wild, winding mangrove creeks of the park. Prices for canoes are $12 per hour
From Miami Beach, take 95 south to 836 west to 826 southbound following the signs to Florida%26#39;s Turnpike south to US 1. Take US 1 to Key Largo. Look for the State Park entrance on your left at Mile Marker 102.5.

Have a GREAT TRIP!!

p.s. If the trip to the Upper Keys is too far, you can rent kayaks or bikes at the nearest state park (about a 25 minute drive north of your condo) here:

This sounds exactly what we are looking for. You have given some really good advice. Thanks!
