Need hotel advice for Cocoa or Cocoa Beach...

My husband and I are going to the Cocoa/Cocoa Beach/Titusville area in May for 2 days/3 nights and need some help deciding where to stay! We will be spending an entire day at Kennedy Space Center, and then the next day we are planning to visit Merritt Island National Wildlife reguge and Canaveral National Seashore. We are trying to find an inexpensive but clean hotel with nonsmoking rooms that is near or on the beach, but not too far of a drive to KSC (hopefully under 20 minutes). We are not really interested in a resort, as we don%26#39;t intend to spend much time at the hotel. We are somewhat considering the Best Western Oceanfront, but are unsure. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is a place called the LunaSea that sounds like it might be right for you. It is about 25 minutes from KSC, 15 minutes from Merritt Island and 20 minutes from Canaveral National Seashore. It is located on the north end of Cocoa Beach and is across from the beach. I believe they just finished some renovations. It has always appeared to be well kept though. I am a resident of Cocoa Beach. I have never stayed there but I have always heard good things about it. I know that the owners have several other resort type hotels in the area. Hope it helps.

Barrier Island,

Thanks for the advice. We%26#39;ll check it out. How far of a walk is it to the beach from there?

A very nice place to stay is Cocoa Beach Towers, Unit #16. It%26#39;s near the pier, and always alot to do. Contact Kingrentals.com and look up Cocoa Beach Towers, Unit #16. We stayed there and it was great. It%26#39;s also directly on the beach!!!!

The Luna Sea is about a 2 minute walk to the beach. It is just across Atlantic Ave. and then behind another hotel. There is plenty of public beach access points. Cocoa Beach is one of the few places left in Florida that is still very beachgoer friendly to those not staying directly oceanfront. They do have a website too if it helps any further. Take care and have a great trip.

This isn%26#39;t exactly near Cocoa Beach .. south of it, past the Air Force base, but don%26#39;t stay at Satellite Beach Days Inn .. it is the worst and you will be disappointed! Never stayed at Luna Sea, but have read good things on it. Wakulla Suites was reasonable, but for some reason this season they are higher .. you may still want to check them out .. maybe the time you are going will be reasonable. And it%26#39;s right on the ocean.

Anthony%26#39;s on the Beach...and it is right on the sand!!! You can walk the beach for miles...hardly any people...yet Cocoa Beach town is just a few min away! Very affordable. No frills but clean! I stayed there for a week many years ago and I still think about it...one of my best trips!

has anybody been to anthony%26#39;s on the beach. their rates are nominal compared to other hotels and motels on the beach ?

We are at The Resort at Cocoa Beach now....and have stayed at Ron John Resort (Cape Canaveral 3M up the raod). These are probably the two best. Ron Jon is newer and both are built by the same builder.

Ron Jon is large with a building by the pool and one by the ocean. The Pool is huge and great for kids (lazy river, toddler area and HUGE winding slide). You have your choice of two building when staying here (ocean or pool). Go ocean if your kids are older and if you do- the higher the better. The 1st floor gives you a view of bushes. If your kids are younger, reccomend pool and ask to be put on the port side so you or pool side so you at least have a view of somthing (it%26#39;s right on the port where the disney ship leaves).

The ROCB is similar but smaller....all units have a view of the ocean. No lazy river or slide. Smaller pool...5-10 years older but very well maintained (think TA list it as #1 ranked hotel). All units here are 2BR with kitchens.

Both are timeshares....both can be rented from directly or via a rental (check redweek.com or myresortnetwork.com etc.).

Both have movie theaters, lots of activities, ball rooms for kids, resturaunts etc.

I%26#39;d take Ron Jon 1st and ROCB second.

Chris.
