Short trip report - Orlando

Hi

Many thanks for all those who assisted me with our trip to Orlando. We had a great time!

We celebrated our Wedding Anniverary at Seasons 52. I had booked ahead, explained it was a special evening, Anniverary etc. However we still had to wait for our table (20 minutes or so) by hanging around the entrance door (the bar area was very crowded). The service was pretty good, food nice but not wonderful. Came away thinking it was a good meal but not a special one.

We ate out a lot and overall all 4 of us agreed that Houlihans took some beating. They have 3 or 4 restaurants in the area and the menu was imaginative and the food delicious.

Is it only me who begrudges paying for parking AND entrance fees when we visit theme parks? Doesn%26#39;t tend to happen in England.

We returned to Universal Studios and got there as soon as the park opened (9am) and headed for the back of the park as suggested in the guide books. Wrong move - the 2 rides we headed for both opened at 11am!

Had a superb day at Busch Gardens, with hardly any queues and a good selection of rides to suit all of us (kids like the stomach churners, we go for something a little less adventurous!).

I gather this part of Florida is having a big problem with lack of rainfall right now. In 3 weeks we had one overnight storm but the rest of the time the sun shone, the sky was blue and we have returned refreshed and relaxed.

Glad you had a great stay. Fill us in on some more of your hightlights. There must have been many during your 3 weeks stay.

How are you settling back? Always takes me ages and I dont feel any better till next trip is booked.........

Busch Gardens seemed to have more school outings than Disney, hence we found a few longer queues.

I agree regarding the parking but I suspect it adds to the incentive to stay in the Disney/Universal hotels.

Great report and sorry for the disappointments; maybe your next trip will find some improvements over those let-downs.

Yes, Florida is in somewhat of a drought situation now, as is most of the South East U.S. My area of Georgia is about seven inches below normal on rain just since January.

Those afternoon thunderstorms Orlando will get in a month or so will hopefully make up some for the lack of rain now. In the summer, it typically rains every day, but some years are exceptions (I believe it was 1997 or 1998 when wild fire just about burned central Florida up that summer).
