Baby car Seat

Hello

I have booked car hire via Dollar for our trip to Orlando in October and we have a 10 month old child. We have decided not to pay the excessive (in our opinion) baby seat hire, but instead we will provide our own.

Has anyone else done this before and, if so, would you advise buying a seat over there, taking one as hand luggage etc etc

I am open to ideas and suggestions!

many thanks

Phil

Well, unless one of you are going to stay at the airport with the infant, and the other run to a store to buy one you need to bring one.

It%26#39;s excessive in my opinion also. We always bring ours along and check it with our other luggage.

bouncer2005,

I would strongly suggest you read the various answers to a post placed by Dublinlocal under the title ';Airport to villa with a 2 year old without a baby seat in this same Forum. I believe you will find them very informative. I would just add that - as per Florida law - restraint safety seats vary in accordance with the child%26#39;s age. Hope this helps.

Bring your own car seat and check it at the airport we travel overseas several times with our infant daughter. One time we rented thru the car company and when we got there they they didn%26#39;t have it for the first day or our rental, but that was Spain. After that we have always just checked it with our bags. The airline will bag it up in plastic for you and tag it. We have done this several times and never had a problem. It doesn%26#39;t cost anything and it%26#39;s the one you know how to use and are comfortable with.

We use to take our own, and one year had to take two.We just put them in black bin liners and put our names on the bags, then checked the bags in with all our other luggage, worked very good.

I%26#39;m assuming then that you haven%26#39;t bought a seat on the plane for the baby? If not, then check the car seat. It%26#39;s no problem - they%26#39;ll wrap it in plastic, it goes on a separate conveyer belt than regular luggage. We had to take 2 seats on our trip to Hawaii last month. If you bought a seat then of course bring the car seat on the plane so baby can sleep comfortably.
