best location

Can any one give me advice on the best location to stay. We are 2 adults, and 2 teenagers. 1 boy 1 girl. The main things we need to know are, On site Disney Hotels, or Nearby location, Pros and Cons.

Thanks in advance.

best location

hello, ive been to florida 3 times, and going back again in may.

On site hotels are great, slightly expensive, but magical. alltransport to all parks are included free when staying onsite.

Off site i would recommend int drive, some hotels do transfers to all parks free and you are on the door step of lots of shops and restraunts.

if money not a problem, stay at disney.

Since I%26#39;m assuming you%26#39;re flying into Orlando, the biggest factor will be if you plan to rent a car or not.

If you don%26#39;t rent a car, staying on Disney property is a distinct advantage. You get free transportation to your resort from the airport (if you fly into Orlando International) and you get free transportation from your resort to all the Disney parks and Downtown Disney. You can also get the ';meal plan'; that could save you money if you wind up having to eat meals on Disney property. The one disadvantage, if you stay on Disney property and don%26#39;t have a car, is that you%26#39;ll have to find transportation to any other places outside Disney you may want to go to (such as Universal, Sea World, Discover Cove, etc.).

If you are planning on renting a car, you might find cheaper options on lodging and food outside Disney property. This is not recommended though if you don%26#39;t have a way to get around, so a car is almost a must.

Public transportation in Orlando is not a good option as it is very poor.

Happy Planning!!

We%26#39;ve been to Disney 15 times in the past 18 years. At first, we stayed in Kissimee, which I wouldn%26#39;t recommend at all. Then we used International Drive a few times, but it%26#39;s very busy. We finally started staying onsight and it%26#39;s very much worth the extra money. It%26#39;s clean, convenient, and has a better feeling of security.

Disney has a hotel for every price range. For mid-priced, we liked Carribean Beach Resort. Now, we stay at the Dolphin all of the time because I get a ';Teacher%26#39;s Rate,'; which is excellent. If you are a nurse or a teacher, ask about special rates.

I think that on-property is the way to go. Disney will provide free transport to the hotel from the Orlando airport. The Disney shuttles will take you to all of the theme parks, water parks, and downtown Disney from your WDW hotel. You really don%26#39;t need a rental car while you%26#39;re there. And there are a lot of hotel options - you can see photos of the hotels on the accomodation portion of allearsnet.com.

I think your teenagers would be more happy at universal than disney...

If staying onsite, you get all the perks mentioned plus extra park hours.

Honestly, If you are thinking about staying onsite, and you are considering universal... I would stay onsite at universal. The perks are endless. However they have three hotels, and two of them I will suggest to you... The hard rock hotel or the royal pacific. All are in walking distance from the parks and major resturants. They also have a ferry boat service that goes to the other hotels and Universal City walk...

OK First let me talk about the hotels: Perfect for a family your size and age group... The pools are fun at both, royal pacific has a beach lagoon area as well. But hard rock has great music playing in common areas... movies by the pool and memorablia everywhere. Your family could fit in one room.

Universal city walk is at the gateway to the parks... It has resutrants, like jimmy buffett margartiaville, Emeril%26#39;s(fine dining), Hard rock hotel and more... There is also night clubs and at night parties in the streets... close enough to the hotels to be convienant far enough away to hear stear clear of any noise. There is also a movie theater and shopping.

Univesal itself is great great great for teenagers. (in case you don%26#39;t know about it) There are two parks. the first Universal studios which is great, even the tame rides are really well done... the park is not too big, and they misters in the lines on 90% of the rides to keeps you cool, and a lot of them have inside waiting areas as well so you cool off before you sit down to ride anything. It is based on movie such as men in black, ET, back to the future, jimmy nuetron, the mummy... and more. the other park Islands of Adventure... Is also a very walkable size with spiderman and hulk rides, flumes, jurassic park ride, rollercoaster, and really cool stage shows... The rides are fun, the park is great...

The best part about staying on site at universal means... You cut to the front of every line. It is an all day, whatever time you want fastpass. You use your hotel key and they swipe it! You never wait more than twenty minutes for a ride. It is an amazing feature and well worth staying onsite for.

I am not saying do not go to disney. I think staying on site is best if you do not want to rent a car. If you have never gone and are just dying to do disney... do it. However there are a great deal of rides at disney that will be just plain boring for your children. Particulary all of fantasy land at magic kingdom. (it will look cheesy to them) Yes they have rollercoasters or fun things at every park. But at the most 4 rides that would appeal to them. I am just letting you know as I am 22 myself and have a sister and brother ages 17 and 15. We went to magic kingdom in decemeber and we were bored. We used to have annual passes at islands of adventure and universal and that was awsome! We beg to go back.

Just giving you a little bit of options for your age group! You could stay onsite at both. In fact I recommend it. They also have free transports to sea world from universal hotels as well (If I remember correctly) I hope you all have a great time!

I have stayed on-site and off. This trip in 1 1/2 weeks will be off site. I have 3 children, 1 is a teen. He prefers time by a pool without a lot of time in the Disney parks.

We are staying at Windsor Hills. 3 bed condo, 2 full bath, great pool, clubhouse, gated/guarded community. We are saving a lot of money, more than enough to rent a car, and then go to SeaWorld (Which I LOVE!)

I don%26#39;t know your price range. Our condo during peak times came out to $130.00 per night. This includes all Florida taxes, and the end of week cleaning fee. Disney would have run us close to 550.00/night. (only because our family consisted of 5 persons and we either needed 2 rooms, or a suite)

It will also save money by having the full kitchen and a washer and dryer in the condo. Less to pack. Windsor Hills is 1.5 miles from Disney.
