Disney temp leave? and Appropriate Number of Days there.

I hope to bring my family to Orlando from Jun 3 to Jul 1. We are totally new to the scene there. Some questions:

(1) Can you leave a Disney Park for awhile during the day and then go back in later in the day. We will be staying quite close to Disney so a break might be very welcome.

(2) Given that I will have 2 sons aged 21 and 20 and a 16 year old daughter, any suggestions as to the no. of days I should book for Disney

Disney temp leave? and Appropriate Number of Days there.

1. yes, as long as you have your ticket for that day.

2. if you are including Epcot, that alone is two full days. It is more of an educational tour than the Amusement Park part of Disney and at those ages they would be more interested in Epcot.

Remember it is going to be very hot and humid in those months - nothing like you would ever experience in Dublin. Take lots of water with you. Read other suggestions in other topics for how to handle Disney World.

BTW, happy St. Paddy%26#39;s day.

Hi Chuts, Thanks a lot for your useful advice and for taking the time

One more tip for Epcot. Those months will have the Summer crowds. To lessen the time you spend in line waiting to see the various offerings, remember this.

Basically Epcot can be physically divided into two areas.

1. As you walk through the pay booths there are a bunch of attractions at the front, so to speak, including the signature Globe that you see in every advertisement.

2. If you go past all these to where the Lake is, there are a whole bunch of ';countries'; etc., that have attractions around the lake together with performances.

BTW, I don%26#39;t think you can cover all in #2 in one day - if you try to go to everything, and they are very interesting.

Those who don%26#39;t know stop at area #1 when they enter. I suggest you go to the stuff around the lake first and by the time you%26#39;re ready, or had enough of that, head back out, stopping at the items you passed on the way in.

On Day #2 do the same, covering things you left out the first day.

Thank you Chuts for the extra info... and a clever tip at that.

If you plan on going on any rides, you can use what is called a %26#39;speed pass%26#39;. This allows you to get a %26#39;place in line%26#39; or save a spot, they will give you a time frame (say one hour for example). Then you can go walk around, do something else for that hour--when you show back up, you go directly on the ride. Saves you time.... no waiting in long lines. FYI, not all rides have speed pass available. I%26#39;m sure you can get a map from the park that states which will apply.

I agree with what Chuts already suggested. We enjoyed the %26#39;countries%26#39;. Keep your eye out for the tiny pins, of each countries flag. You can purchase this within each country. We did not know about them until we were half way through and would have liked to have purchased them all as a rememberance. They are inexpensive, and a neat momento. Have fun. You can use cell phones to keep in touch with your children, two way phones, or two way radios. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you may want to pack a lunch in a backpack. Food and water is expensive in the park.

Thank you msu4kris for the useful advice. Just one point which arises from that: Do they have any objections to customers bringing in their own food? Are bags searched (after 9/11 etc)?

Someone had mentioned to me that the answer is Yes to both questions...

Hello. Our family has held annual passes at Disney for over five years now and my husband and I have been going there since it first opened in the 70%26#39;s. Don%26#39;t miss Animal Kingdom theme park--absolutely fantastic! I could go on and on with tips, however, check into purchasing the Magic Your Way tickets. Also, since you%26#39;re going during the warmer times of the year, make sure you plan to spend some time at one (at least-there are two) of the water parks (I like Typhoon Lagoon) and possibly Disney Quest (a gigantic indoor gaming facility)--your kids will love it. Check the website allearsnet.com for any information you may need. It is very helpful and time permitting, they will personally answer questions for you. Make sure you subscribe to their weekly newsletter; it%26#39;s great for updates on everything going on at Disney World. Good luck and have fun on your trip!

The pass for Disney which lets you ride later without waiting so long is called ';Fastpass.'; You use your ticket, and can only use it once per ride per day.

As far as leaving Disney and coming back later in the day, it can be done, but understand that Disney is a large complex. It will be very time consuming to leave the park and come back to your hotel, then go back to the park, even if your hotel is ';close'; to Disney, unless it is actually on the Disney property. It is particularly difficult doing this from Magic Kingdom. IMO, the only hotels that are not too much hassle to do this in general are the hotels at Disney, as you can take the buses (or monorail, if applicable) to their resorts. The whole of the Walt Disney World property is twice the size of Manhattan (NYC), and any hotel that is not on Disney property is at least 4 miles from Magic Kingdom by car, and probably farther. Maybe MGM is easier than the other parks to do this at if you%26#39;re staying offsite in the Maingate area; otherwise, its going to take some time.

Also, if you leave and come back, and/or you have multi day tickets, you need to make sure you have your exact ticket (don%26#39;t mix and match). Disney uses finger scan technology now so that only one person can use each ticket, to prevent multiple people using the same ticket, particularly multi day tickets. If you had all your tickets and came back, but didn%26#39;t make sure each person used the same one, it might be a little embarassing and a little delay to have to figure out who had which ticket.
