family of 6 on budget

where to stay in orlando area? We are looking for accomodations for family of 6, and do not want to spend a fortune just for a place to sleep and eat. With all the reviews, and searches over the past month+, can anyone recommend tight budget accomodations, which include a kitchen or at least a mini fridge/microwave that are safe to stay in for under a $100/night after taxes and fees. Planning to stay for 8 nights, traveling by minivan. So distance to parks are not the main issue. Clean and safe and reasonable prices that%26#39;s all. we do not want to hassle with any timeshare sales.

I am assuming that you do not wish to stay in the park?

I haven%26#39;t stayed at either of these properties, but two properties that have gotten some good recommendations have been Windsor Hills and Liki Tiki Village.

We cant afford to stay in the park cost is over $3,000 for 8 nights at family suite in value resort includes 5 day base tickets.

The villas/condos worry me since they are either time share or hidden expenses, cleaning fee/pool heat etc., Just want inexpensive accoodations, but family of six means a suite, and need to cook or make quick meals will also save a lot of money.where is it safe to stay?

blurryeyedplanner46, well that may be a tough find. The Florida hotel tax is 11.5%, so your looking for a suite in the $88 a night range. Not to sure if you will be able to find that. You did not mention when you were going? That may make a difference.

Have you tried the Bahama Bay resort in Kissimee? It%26#39;s a really upmarket resort and we had a 3 bed villa for 拢45 GB ($78) per night including taxes and fees. It would easily sleep 6. I can give you the phone number of the company I went through if you want to find out more and also have a look at it on Trip Advisor. Honestly you do get budget prices but luxury accomodation. It was excellent

I would reccommend one site for all your Florida questions the Dibb (disney information bulletin board) google it as I dont have a link. Also have you considered a villa ?depending on when you travel it can be a reasonable option and most have a pool.

You say distance from the parks is not an issue from this I gather you have not been before? you could end up 1 hour travelling time in both directions and so cut into your days at the park for which you have paid dear!

I would suggest you stay as close as possible and pref near the shortcut down sherberth rd off the 192. There are loads of villa/condos around this very central area.

For villas check out this site orlando4villas and orlando villa forums both sites are owner run and have hundreds of villas often at cheap prices to fill late spaces.

Hope this helps.

We are also a family of six and a couple of years ago we got a great rate at the Holiday Inn Maingate East. It was very roomy and had a kitchenette. It was a little older but very clean and the pool area was lovely. I think we found a discount code on wdwinfo.com but mousesavers.com also has discount codes for various hotels.

does Bahama Bay resort have a web address?

Which Holiday Inn on which street, Nikki bird or other?

We are going end of May just after Memorial day

This is crunch time for booking, so I appreciate all suggestions. For villas and homes with pool reply, I worry about hidden fees, timeshares, etc.

Traffic would certainly be an issue for distance to parks, but if we find better place to stay for less money, it is worth the traffic, I hope...

Have you tried www.vrbo.com?

If you book direct with the owners most of whom on the orlando4villas site and the other forum are british and own their homes as holiday lets all the fees/charges are shown up front and you need have no worries. As for the distance from the parks it is definitely a consideration, trust me travelling to and from the parks is time better spent IN the parks using your tickets. So if you can find a villa/condo in a reasonably close area for a good price you will be laughing!

i would suggest Lindfields, Sunset Lakes,Idian Ridge, Oak island/harbour as good villa complexes close to the shortcut.

All of these and Emerald Island can be found on either of the sites mentioned and you should get a good deal in May as it is not peak school holiday time.

Give it a try!
