planning mid - late sept trip

never been to the keys. dh has.

we are in the beginning stages of planning for mid - late sept. want 2 nts in the keys then back to miami beach for 2 nts at the ritz.

need some info

1. is sept hurricane season?

2. how far to the keys from miami airport?

3. do you need to book room/hotel in advance?

4. how busy this time of year?

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

September is hurricane season. The season goes from July until November, but no one has told the hurricanes they can%26#39;t come at other times.

The ';keys'; are a 100 mile stretch of land and islands from Key Largo to Key West. The start of the keys (Key Largo) are about 60 miles from Miami. The end of the keys (Key West) is about 160 miles from Miami.

You don%26#39;t NEED to book a hotel room in advance. That being said, I would book a room, because then I don%26#39;t have to worry about it once I get down there.

Late Sept is normally a slow time for tourists because of the hurricane season and a Sept. is a slow travel time for everyone.
