The Naples beach area rejuvenation programme query

We are a couple from the UK who are travelling to the US for the first time.

We have booked with Virgin Holidays and have recently received a letter from them advising that there is a rejuvenation programme ongoing until May 06.

We were wondering if someone could advise exactly what is happening we have been told it wont affect our facilities in the hotel which is the Inn on the Fifth but we are a little worried it may affect our stay.

There is enough beach in the area that the renourishment shouldn%26#39;t effect you at all. They are beginning at the La Playa resort and anticipate being completed through The Ritz by March 19th. After that they will then focus on the City of Naples, at this point there is no word on how long they believe that will take.

What exactly are they doing for this Beach rejuvination???? We are scheduled to stay at LaPlaya starting Sunday (March 5)...now I am concerned....will our beach bumming be disrupted???? Any idea where they are in this rejuvination at this point? Thanks.

We are staying at the Naples Grande in early May. Will this affect us?

thicko, It should not. The Registry (Naples Grande) is located between La Playa and The Ritz and should therefore be finished if all goes as planned in two weeks.

What exactly is this beach rejuvenation? We will be at Vanderbilt Beach the first of April and I%26#39;m assuming they will be done by then, but I%26#39;m still curious. Thanks!

The beaches are fine, no they%26#39;re great. We went to the county park beach operated by the Naples Grande (old Registry) today, walked the beach and lunched. We did notice a blue fence of some sort about extending to the shore about five or six hundred yards to the north but it took nothing away. We breakfasted at LaPlaya last week and all was well there also. Sunny blue and 79 F. Prudence would consider a call to the resort though, if the blue fence were in front of the patio, guests should expect to be told.

We have just returned to the UK on 17th March. Stayed at La Playa for two weeks.

The work started from right outside the hotel. and when we left was approx 2/3 miles down the beach towards Naples.

There is a 2ft dia rusty pipe sitting midway on the beach pumping water/sand at its end point.

Although they have build sand ramps over the pipe to get to the seashore, and painted it a sandy colour on the hotels side it does distract from the view somewhat, and frequenty sprung leaks, resulting in a guy with a mobile welding set and generator coming to fix it.

The work is quite noisy when actually outside the hotel, but gives you something to watch whilst having breakfast. LOL.

We are booking reservations at LaPlaya tomorrow! Is the beach rejuvenation done at the hotel site? What exactly are they doing and is it worth going there and spending all that money to have the vacation ruined. We just want to sit on a beautiful beach and watch the waves and relax. Plese respond asap - we need an answer by tomorrow morning or we need to cancel without losing our money!

You could call La Playa and ask if the renourishment is completed in their area.

I did call. According to the person who answered the phone the pipe or whatever the rejuvenation project is using has been moved from the LaPlaya. I still take this with a grain of salt, though. I know the Edgewater Beach never mentioned the construction that is going on or the horrendous traffic with all the construction. Hopefully, when we arrive the end of May things will be back to normal. Just want a beach chair, book, beverage with an umbrella and a beautiful beach to zOne out.
