Windsor Hills - Trip Report

Windsor Hills

Just returned from spending one week at Windsor Hills. We rented a 3 BR, 2Bath Condo and want to give my opinion and review of the place. First, this has been our 4th time to the Disney/Universal parks in the past 8 years and have stayed on-site as well as off. If you are traveling for the first time and have young kids, the benefits of staying on-site are numerous. I’m not going to list all the advantages because they’re frequently debated on this board. However, I have two teenagers 14 %26amp; 16 and another family actually met us for part of the visit. This time we were looking for multi bedrooms and baths and additional space for the teens. Literally, we had 8 people for three nights; our 1400 sq ft unit gave us plenty of room for everyone.

Windsor Hills is a new complex that has condos, town homes and single family homes. It’s located right off 192 – which is nothing but your typical row of hotels, restaurants and “bargain worlds”, once you turn into the resort though you’re off the beaten path. One of the major benefits is the distance and ease to the parks. Literally, we were back to our place in 15 minutes. It was great; just follow the signs leading out to 192 West. Look for 545 to turn on vs. Old Lake Wilson Road. We missed it the first time at night, no light on the sign, 545 was clear, but our directions from the rental company didn’t include that.

We stayed in a building right by the pool, it was quiet and not a lot of people were around, never took the elevator up with anyone but our family. There was always easy parking outside our building etc. The pool was busy at times, but never terribly. The unit we stayed in though fully furnished was totally for rental purposes. It was already showing some signs of wear and tear, mainly the carpet, it needed some deep cleaning. Everything else was clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels, sheets, etc. The laundry feature is great just for doing a load of towels if nothing else. One annoying fact is the ¼ roll of toilet tissue and iddy biddy soap bars. I knew it in advance so I had picked some up along with extra’s for the fridge. It’s just nice having that fridge with breakfast and snack items if nothing else.

The teens were not impressed with the pool, though it’s huge, it’s only 3 ½ feet deep, that’s minor, it’s beautiful and the resort is extremely clean.

It comes down to a preference, if you’re looking for a resort vacation, go to a resort, if you’re looking for condo type accommodations, I would whole heartily recommend Windor Hills. For space, location, cleanliness and $$ it can’t be beat. If anyone has further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Disney is such a great place for kids of all ages!!

Windsor Hills - Trip Report

Hey VacationBound thanks for the review. There are still alot of us WH bound so we are always on the look for the latest review. Can you tell me which unit you rented? I would just like to look it up on line and see which one it is.

1/4 roll of toilet paper is pretty funny. Guess I%26#39;ll stick a roll in my suitcase to get us through the night!

I have teens as well. Did your use the game room or pool tables? Were there other teens there? What did you teens enjoy the most during your trip? Did you eat anywhere fun?

Windsor Hills - Trip Report

Did you use the movie theater at all?

We stayed at 7650 Cromwall in unit 403, it was the building that was right by the pool. Our balcony overlooked the pool, nice feature.

The teens used the game room one night, but not for long, like I said, there really weren%26#39;t alot of people around for the size of the complex. We pretty much did Disney from AM - PM, tossing in the waterparks for the sun days. One night we did get back earlier picked up pizza, etc. from Giordanos -- wonderful!!!!! I guess they%26#39;re big in Chicago and Florida. Definetly a great place to eat in or carry-out, they deliver as well. Also, ate at Friday%26#39;s the night we arrived, wouldn%26#39;t recommended it.

We like the Epicot resturants at night, though nothing was spectacular.

Hope you have a great time!!

Thanks so much for the post! I didn%26#39;t realize the pool wasn%26#39;t a deep swimming pool. I was actually looking seriously at WH because of the pool!

TRacie dee I don%26#39;t know where you are from but if its the uk don%26#39;t take the nice fluffy stuf they have as it could well block the pipes up and that won%26#39;t be nice !

I%26#39;m from Arizona. I%26#39;ll try to keep the fluffy level under control!

Pleased to hear it too much fluffy stuff is not good for you lol

Thanks for the report Vac Bound. I didn%26#39;t realise the pool was so shallow either but it will suit me fine as my 5 year old son has only just learned to swim and is only a wee guy anyway! Is Giordano%26#39;s the pizza place at Formosa Gardens mall?

Vacationbound,

I will be arriving at W.H. in about 2 weeks with 3 kids, 14, 11, and 7. Older one doesn%26#39;t care as much about swimming as he does laying in the sun. The water depth will be great for my youngest.

Our condo was just put on rental, We will be the 2nd people staying there. Should be very new.

How many days did you spend in the parks? Did you go anywhere else? We are planning a day at SeaWorld. Was worried about the travel time to the parks, but your post makes it sound pretty easy.

Which water park did your older ones like the most?

P.S. anyone else going to be at W.H. on 4-22 to 4-28?

Thanks Vactionbound

We%26#39;re heading to Windsor Hills in May and it%26#39;s great to read a review. Such a new place not much user info about it. Interesting how the shallow pool depth is kept so quiet in everybody%26#39;s add. We chose Windsor Hills over Windsor Palm because of the pool. Our kids are little so the shallow pool will be ok but I see how that could be a real disappointment. How was the water slide? Please tell me that it was on. Grandma and Grandpa will be stayin in a townhouse and us in a condo. Any idea just how far that may be? I can%26#39;t judge from the map just how big this place is. How long a drive was it from the airport? How far to a grocery store to pick up a ful roll of toilet paper and some snacks? thanks for any response.
