hollywood beach towers and boardwalk

We own as t/s owners there and was thinking of selling but they got bought out by new owners last year, seems things my get better there and wondering if any work has been done to the place and if the boradwalk work in front of it is being done as of yet? Also last time we were there it seemed that new places were opening up on the boardwalk and wondering it the boardwalk was getting a face lift? work was being done in several areas. thanks!

THey are working on the B%26#39;walk. They are mainly down to between GArfield and Johnson Streets.....working S

But some work has begun in the Hollywood Blvd area block.

They are making it wider, and will have specific lanes for walkers (brick pavers), bikers (at certain times) in line skaters (only from the Dania Beach Blvd S to Garfield), and a special jogger track.

I have no idea how this will work. Anyone trying to access the beach across the b%26#39;walk will either get hit by a bike, in line skater or jogger if they are no careful.

The main heavy construction on the B walk is at the end of Sheraton St. In the Flowers section, it is just S between Hallandale BEach Blvd and Hollywood Blvd.....(mainly S of Brogunvilla Terrace...where the beach front free library %26amp; computer centers are.

Did you get to the Sarasota area? If you want a great trade, try to get Longboat Bay Club, a former Marriott that is super...2 bed 2 bath 1800 sq ft elevated....I%26#39;m sure the HBT will pull it on RCI or even II (they trade in both)

thanks for the info! I%26#39;m assumming that the boardwalk will be done when we get there in oct, that is the week we have at hollywood beach tower. Also im assuming that some work will be done to the units etc. Ive not yet joined RCI as we have always enjoyed going to hollywood beach but thinking maybe we should.

We have been in sarasota area this feb as we spent a week at siesta key and loved it. Sounds like we should join rci and go to the above place you have mentioned.

WE haven%26#39;t gone into the Tower so far this year. I%26#39;m not sure how it looks...will post about it if we go.

As for RCI or II....I think you ought to consider both. RCI has far more resorts....but many are not that great. (I think they have over 4000).

Thier main hotel resort manager is Hilton. Some Sheratons, very few Marriotts

Interval International has fewer resorts, but most tend to be somewhat better. They have Disney Resorts (DVC), which would be a very hard trade for the Hollywood Tower, but you might pull an apt in off times, Marriott, Hyatt, Four Seasons (Yes, the hotel chain has weekly intervals in some of their apts attached to the Hotels), some Sheratons (Starwood took over management of several T/S resorts...some used RCI, others II some both.),

You Hollywood Tower units trade with both. If it has kept the RCI award, I might consider joining RCI..as it would put you in a higher trade catagory.

THere are also free indepedant exchange companies. One only takes Gold Crown or 5 Star resorts, (SFX). But you could try Dial an Exchange...they might be helpful.

In case you didn%26#39;t know this, once you join any of these companies, they give first dibs on units they feel will not be exchanged, or there is a surplus.

Example....I saw a Snugglers Notch Vermont 2 bed 2 bath fall week for $267 in RCIs extravacations. An Atlantic City Fairfield Fall 2 bed 2 bath unit for $296.

I saw a 2 bed 2 bath Shawnee (PA) fall week for under $350 on the II getaway lists. Dial an Exchange also has these lists.

You need to be a member of the exchange company to get these left over weeks.

And USUALLY, the exchange companys want the info on the resort you own, they will get the info directly from the resort...you don%26#39;t have to give them a week to get these getaways or extra vacations.

And of course, you can buy a T/S on ebay for sometimes well less than $500.00. Most sell for oner 50% of what the developer trys to sell them for.

SPM Resorts inc bought hollywood beach tower a year ago oct and they do have some resorts in several places. Have you heard of them? Ive researched some on them and beleve we can exchange within their program but not real sure on it, I was told that you could. Do you know anything on this company? Also we may need to exchange our week of this oct week 41 as my son is in military and in germany and due home oct 17 (but that is up in the air right now) may have to stay longer but if he does come home i will not go to fla then , question is how far in advance do you have to join a program like RCI to bank your week? Also how does it work?

Thanks

Ellen

Here is the website...I can%26#39;t find Hollywood Beach Tower listed:

http://www.spmresorts.com/vacation.html

Both II (PREFERRED) and RCI will take your week, and allow you to search on line (or vis phone call) to see what is available for your trade. Both work a bit differently, and their workings are explained at www.tugbbs.com

I WOULD NOT give up my week to trade for the possibility of what you need with your son.

Since he is in the Military, RCI and II already have programs YOU CAN use to help HIM (you) get a week for $299 via RCI or a bit more via II.

RCIs site is www.afvclub.com They will probably have Hollywood BEach Tower weeks for $299 at certain times.

IIs is www.govarm.com

You can register for him. You can help select the place and week...BUT upon sign in at the resort, the paperwork will be in his name, and he will need to be there.

RCI also has sites similiar to this for other government workers, gov retired, and veterans. The places available change almost every week...so there might always be the possibility of what you want later...also, don%26#39;t be afraid to call the 800 numbers....they MAY try to find you a more expensive week...its your call, that same week might be listed 2 weeks later for $299 or less.

Canadians must use another site.

Ken
