smaller resort?

We%26#39;ve never been to Destin or the surrounding area and are interested in traveling sometime this summer with flexible dates. Mostly in my searches, I have found high rise condos. Are there any smaller resorts/condos on the beach in Destin, or should I broaden my search to other areas. We have three year old twins and are looking for a place that is close to the action without being on top of lots of people at the pool/beach. Would love any feedback - thanks!

You should try the beaches ofSouth Walton,Seagrove beach,Blue mtn. beach,Seaside area.We moved down the coast for that same reason.The area is 10-20 minutes from Destin along the 30A beach hwy.There are lots of condos on VRBO in this area.There are lots of restaurants and shops and less crowded beachs and only a couple of high rises.

The Crystal Beach area in Destin. has a lot of condos in much smaller complexes. Plus, you may want to look at a cottage. Most neighborhoods are small with a community pool.

Plus, it is very near most anything you would want to do.

Try looking in Fort Walton Beach/Okaloosa Island. It is a 2 mile stretch of road (Santa Rosa Blvd) that dead ends, so no thru traffic. There are height restrictions, so not resorts are over 6-7 stories tall, with a few being even smaller.
