i was quoted a price from alamo for car hair for 10 days i think for $425, i take it this does not include insurance, there was an ';accidental damage cover '; option for $21 a day. is this too much, how much should really look to pay for a car for 10 days in oralndo ????
US car hire another questionIt is better to organise the car hire from your own country and get an all inclusive quote as the US sites are geared tp to drivers having their own insurance .
Try this site it is quite good on price
http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/?villa=393
US car hire another questionI just rented a Mid-size (pontiac G6 or similar) from Alamo for 10 days at US$205.33
Try Yescarhire.com,Airline-network.co.uk or US carhire.co.uk, who i have booked this years car hire with. All will do hire with all insurances.
Try dollar.
Also www.bnm.com give good comparative quotes.
Now If you book you car with a credit card you may get some automatic coverage. I believe any gold card will dive you automatic CWD coverage. Check you credit card company to verify and follow the rules.
With mey Mastercard Gold I decline all the insurance being offered by the company and stick with what the credit card company offers. Make sure that if you decide to purchase additional insurance, you are not paying for something you are already covered for. Also, I think the credit card coverage is for a max of 15 days.
as others have said, dont book throught the US site use a UK one. The hire price is good but then come the extras. US car hire were the cheapest 拢100 less than Dollar and Alamo even thought they use them !

maxi p,
What car rentals charge for insurance comes practically to the same amount you would pay for the use of the car. In other words, it will double the basic price. If you have car insurance in your country then you should:
1) Rent the car in your country before you start your travel.
2. Ask the company if they would accept your local car insurance as a temporary cover for the lenght of your stay in the U. S.
3) Some credit cards will provide you with limited car insurance when you are travelling. The question here would be if that is enough to bring you peace of mind in case of an accident. the same would apply for your own car insurance. Remember that if your liability is compromised, the car rental will come after you if you (actually the car) are not properly protected/covered.
4. No matter what the situation is, always carefully read the small letters. This way you will reduce your exposition/disbursment.
Hope this helps.

I don%26#39;t think any English car hire company would except my car insurance in the US even though I am insured to drive any car here. My car insurance is for the UK not anywhere else. Plus it would not cover me for the amount you lot sue for so would be worthless.
ads,
Mine was just a suggestion as you can see from the content of the post. Some insurance companies abroad - and I do not know exactly which ones - provide that kind of ';extended geographical coverage'; similar to Health Insurance. It will depend on the insurance company%26#39;s policy and, also and not less importante, the type of policy/coverage and how much that would cost. With that said, the next step would always be to check what the conditions/limitations of the coverage are. In many opportunities we find plesant - or unpleasant - surprises. We normally tend to avoid reading the small letters in contracts. In my profession this is an essential part.

I think the differance in hiring cars for People in the UK is we ';don%26#39;t'; pay for car hire in America,we pay for the insurances that we have to take from the car hire company.Which proberly amounts to the same thing. As people in America use their own insurance you only pay for hire.
