Looking for some advice on best place to stay on Anna Maria Island over Labor Day. I thought Anna Maria Cottages or Bungalow Beach Resort seemed like good options but would love any advice or suggestions. Basically want someplace clean, very nice, updated accomodations and must be within walking distance to the beach. Hopefully right on the beach (have 3 kids under 11) and some family restaurants close by. I thought Anna Maria sounded like a good choice based on other people%26#39;s reviews but open to other islands nearby. I%26#39;ve read some things about pipes on the beach, does anyone know if still there, is it unsafe, inconvenient, etc. Thanks for any help !

Have you looked at Siesta Key? Very family friendly, with great beaches; actvities for kids and places to eat and shop.
I always recommend Tropical Shores Resort.

We like Bungalow Beach Resort becasue it is right on the beach, it is an upscale establishment with nice beds and linens. They have a small pool and it is in a very good location, the trolley stops right in front. Anna Maria Cottages are also nice but they are across the street from the beach.
Thanks for all the great suggestions. It sounds like Siesta Key might be more kid friendly though. If anyone has any thoughts on that, would love to hear your experience or suggestions.
The Crescent Beach area is perfect for families.
What type of accomodations are you looking for?
Beside Tropical Shores Resort there is also the Banana Bay Club Beachside and Waterside.
You can read the reviews and compare the properties.
There are shops and kid friendly restaurants within walking distance.
In addition to water actvities I would also suggest a trip out to Myakka State Park for the ';Gator Gal'; airboat ride.
The G-Wiz Science Museum in downtown Sarasota is great for kids, too.
