SOBE in August

My husdand and I will be going to South Beach Aug.11th-14th, before we leave on a Carnival cruise.

We are in early 40%26#39;s and we like to party and dance to classic, southern, rock and roll. Are there any bars or clubs around SoBe with this type of atmosphere?

When reading other post it seems like the crowd is younger and more hip. Should we go to another area in Miami that would be less trendy and more laid back?

Wifey and I started visiting SoBe when we were in our ';early 40%26#39;s'; and have been going back there on a regular basis ever since. Now at 48 (ouch), we still have a great time!

However you bring up a valid issue in that many (as in most) of the clubs are filled with ';kids'; half our age. I argue we are just as ';hip';, but just prefer ';different'; atmospheres.

You can find PLENTY of places in SoBe to relax and enjoy a more laid back vacation. There are some GREAT low-light restaurants for romantic dining (Wish and Nemo come to mind) and some great restaurants with high energy (China Grill, Prime 112, and many others).

A new club, Snatch, has opened since we%26#39;ve been there last that we want to try on our next visit (in 3 weeks!). It%26#39;s suppose to play more rock-and-roll but can say for sure as we haven%26#39;t been there yet. Last time we went to Jazid on Washington and had a great time. They have what I might call ';high energy'; jazz and lots of dancing.
