Hotels??

Thanks so much SoBe_Fan for the advise. Which Hotel do you guys stay at? We thought about the Clevelander but it will be closed.

Hotels??

Hello crazytraveler,

I just got back from SoBe. I was there for the 4th of July. I stayed at the Strand Ocean Drive. This is not a party hotel but is in the middle of party central at 10th and Ocean.

The Strand is awesome. I posted a review last night but it is still not showing. Reviews take a few days to post. Don%26#39;t know why?

This hotel is newly renovated, clean and modern with an awesome rooftop pool with a equally awesome view. I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite from a junior without asking. The staff is very friendly. I posted a trip report yesterday, it%26#39;s about 6-7 posts below.

Let me know if you have any questions about the hotel...mama

Hotels??

I always stay at the Shelborne www.shelborne.com

They have a club but rumor has it that it is closed but there is a karaoke bar in the basement. Nice pool and private beach entrance.

Hey Crazy Traveler,

A requirement of ours is that the hotel has to be directly on the beach. Hotels we%26#39;ve stayed at include Loews, Ritz-Carlton, National and DoubleTree Surfcomber. We%26#39;ve had friends stay at Royal Palm and South Seas. Each of these hotels have their own personality, pluses and minuses.

Loews: Very large, fairly expensive, more conservative guests (business travelers, conventioneers, families), nice rooms, very good service but VERY large hotel.

Ritz-Carlton: GREAT Spa (make reservations early), newer, large, nice rooms, expensive, great service.

National: The reviews I%26#39;ve read suggest this hotel has really gone down hill since we stayed there some 3 years ago or so.

DoubleTree Surfcomber: This is where we stay most. The rooms are nice (but not huge - most rooms in SoBe are small compared to hotels built more recently), GREAT pool, great beach access, nice court yard between the pool and beach, nice tiki bar, cool art deco decor in lobby (lit up with candles in the evening), and a staff and management that cares about your stay and making it a good one. Being a DoubleTree, they are a member of the Hilton Family of Hotels so you can expect a quality product at a reasonable price.

Hope that helps!

Cheers!
