Ft. Lauderdale Grande

Has anyone stayed here recently? Was wondering how their renovations after the hurricane are doing!

Ft. Lauderdale Grande

It is still partially closed with less than 100 rooms open. I hear that they might be opening again by November. Many of those rooms are occupied by construction staff.

Hey, I%26#39;m from KC too! I assume you have parrots?

We%26#39;re going to Ft Lauderdale for the first time in August. Try the Sheraton Yankee Clipper Beach if you have a AAA card. WE got $110 per night with two buffet breakfast each day, free parking and two free water taxi passes. Free shutte from the airpot and of course, the Sheraton name and sweet sleeper beds! There is also a Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel. They are not the same and the Trip Advisor reviews were not very flattering for the Trader as they were for the Clipper Beach.

Thanks for the tips - we really want to stay on 17th St because we love to go to the Southport Raw Bar and we won%26#39;t have a car. We%26#39;re spending one night in FLL post cruise. I%26#39;ll check out the Yankee, though.

PS: We don%26#39;t have parrots. We are among the throngs of fans of Jimmy Buffett%26#39;s music and Jimmy has named us Parrot Heads!

We even have clubs - we belong to the Kansas City Parrot Head Club AKA Pirates of the Prairie! Check out the national club! www.phip.com

You might check into the Rennaisance Hotel right next door as well- I%26#39;m not sure about their summer rates, but it%26#39;s a fairly new and nice hotel. The reviews of the Hyatt are still pretty mixed, even though their renovations are apparently completed.

We stayed at Rennaisance a couple years ago. It was o.k., but our non-smoking room sure spelled ';smoky!!!!';
