What kind of place is Schooners?

I%26#39;m considering renting a condo that is supposed to be right next to Schooners. I%26#39;m bringing a child and don%26#39;t want her exposed to any kind of ';partying';. Also, is Schooners set up so that you can watch what goes on in front of the units on the beach?

Were planing to be in PCB in the month of June, it that helps.

Before 9:00 Schooners is suitable for children. There is deck seating that faces the beach, so you can watch your child play while waiting for food. Around 8:30 is when the ';partying'; crowd begins to show (at least in my experience). They usually have a band of some sort that plays before that time, however I do not know what time they start. When I was there last I could not see the front of the units of the hotel next door because it is literally right next door, but a quick trip down the stairs and onto the beach should allow you to be able to see. (If they still allow you to do that, which I see no reason why they wouldn%26#39;t). Basically, if you have an early dinner you should have no problems. Hope this helps.

Snowfly what is the name of the condo?

I love the live beach cam on the Schooners website. I too am checking out a condo closeby and will be traveling with kids. I check out the beach cam often (at various times) to see how crowded that part of the beach looks like. What I see, it doesn%26#39;t look to crowded or wild.

My trip isn%26#39;t until 07, so if your going before then, let me know what you think.

Good luck!

Snowfly--we have taken our 3 girls to Schooners for dinner that turned into listening to the band for a little while and watching the folks dance. The majority of the folks that I saw were in their 30s and up. We were there from 7:30ish until 9 or 9:30. During the 2 hrs or so, we never once saw anything that I%26#39;d call inappropriate.

Most of the dancing we saw was shag swing and 50s kind of dancing which is alot of fun to watch.

There were people drinking a beer, glass of wine or another cocktail of sorts but definitely not in excess.

About 5 or 6 yrs ago DH and I went w/o the kids. we arrived around 10:30 and stayed til closing which was dispappointing ---they closed at midnight!! We were ready to dance til 2 or 3 b/c the band was really very good and was playing some great music....Eagles, Doobie Bros., BTO, etc.....alot of 70s, 80s music as well as some 50s and Elvis kind of music. Before we had heard what I call

';beach music';.

I don%26#39;t recall seeing any folks that appeared to be in their early 20s.

Unless you are totally against dancing, I see no reason to be overly concerned. It won%26#39;t be like LaVella, Spinnakers or some of the other places around town. I would definitley take my children back if they wanted to go.

I, too, watch the beachcam from Schooners on a daily basis. They have cams in the bar area and the band area so if you check it in the evenings, you can probably see all the action and judge for yourself. We plan on eating there and taking the toddler with us when we go in the fall. If the music starts early enough, he%26#39;ll probably be dancing in his highchair before anyone else is on the floor! (He%26#39;s a bit of a ham.)

At any rate, have a good time and let us know how the trip went when you get back.

P.S. www.schooners.com You%26#39;ll also find their menu on-line.

karencruises, we are leaving in 3 weeks for the beach and I so much enjoy reading all the posts regarding things to do and places to eat, one question though, when you said Schooners won%26#39;t be like Spinnakers what did ya mean? I thought Spinnakers looked neat to take the family for lunch or dinner, just curious.

lacey---the only time I%26#39;ve been at Spinnakers was at night when the bands and music was playing. It%26#39;s been a while so things may be different now. I%26#39;ve never been d uring the day--only at night....LATE

.... when people get a little crazy after drinking WAY TOO much!!
