I am traveling to sobe in october with a group of twenty people. We are down there for a football game. Between the Beacon and The Kent, which hotel is nicer and witch hotel would be better area for us.

The hotels are 3 streets apart. The area is - the same!

My suggestion? Check rates online at a few sites to get the best one you can find for the time period you are visiting. Make a note of the site and the price.

And then?

Call the hotels directly. Get a director of reservations on the phone (not just the person who answers but a manager). If they are not available when you call, get their name and leave a call back number.

Tell them you are bringing in 20 people and you found the rate online and can they give you all a group rate that is better. Make sure you mention you are still considering a few other options...

If you are not visiting during a holiday or high traffic period and you have done this in advance of the trip (not, for instance, for this weekend...) they should be anxious to fill that many rooms.

You have nothing to lose. Give it a try! Let me know how that works out for you...

The Beacon is right on Ocean Drive which is directly on the beach. The Kent is not.

Reading the reviews on this site, both choices have ups and downs. I live here so I do not see the rooms... Click the link that reads ';Miami Beach Hotels'; to see the other options in your price range and read the reviews on this site.

Do a little research and negotiating and see what you can find. Even the bigger hotels will offer you a discount for a group of 20 travelers. See what you can find!
