Driving to Key West on Fridays

We will be driving from Miami to Key West on Friday, Aug 11. We can leave fairly early in the morning from Miami. How%26#39;s the traffic going down the keys on Fridays in the summer? I know accidents can mess things up, but assuming no problems, how long should the drive take on a Friday? And what time does the road get really jammed on Fridays? Any help appreciated.

I would leave after 9 in the morning. That way you give all the commuters time to get to work. You should have smooth sailing.

Just went to Key West this past weekend. We left Miami at around 11am and had a wonderful, un-eventful drive down. Hardly any traffic at all. Arrived in Key West at about 2:30pm.
