Flying ID for Children

We are flying through Delta to MCO, does anyone know what (if any) ID I have to have for the 13 %26amp; 8 yr olds i%26#39;m taking?

No you don%26#39;t. On July 5th, I flew from Dulles with my five year old. The only thing they asked her was her name, and what her mommy and daddy%26#39;s name was. She responded with ';mommy';. They asked if I was her mom, she said yes, and off we went.

This was the first time anything like that happened.

I am never asked for ID for my kids, but I always bring it just in case. I am not sure what the policy is. I would think a copy would be ok.

Great question. I haven%26#39;t flown with my children except out of the country. I will bring a copy of their birth certificates just in case.

When we went to Orlando from Tucson in June %26amp; we were asked for id coming and going. My kids all had school id%26#39;s and that is what we used. I would for sure bring something, school id, birth certificate, social security card. Better safe than sorry. My kids were 13, 14, 16.

When you fly within your home country, it usually doesn%26#39;t matter. However, that being said, it is up to the ticket taker and if they want to see ID, you best have some.

This day and age with parents running off with kids, you just never know!

We fly with our kids every summer (ages 9,14,16) from SFO or OAK to various US airports. Sometimes we are asked for their id and sometimes not. Anything is better than nothing! Take along a school id at minimum - a copy of a birth certificate is even better for your teen at least. (You can get online and print a request form for a copy for the county your child was born in. It only takes a few days to get it via mail. I just did this for an upcoming trip to Mexico that requires certified copies) In June our 16 year old flew to San Diego from San Francisco and didn%26#39;t have ID with her so the airport put her through a ';pat search'; before letting her to the gate. I was right there with my id and her eticket but she didn%26#39;t have her own id with her. Needless to say I sent a copy of her birth cert. via FED EX to her before she flew home.

You don%26#39;t absolutely need it but with the constant changes in rules and regulations,it%26#39;s better to have something. We carry copies of birth certificates and the childrens school IDs. The only time you have to have ID is when you are flying with an under 2 year old that is flying for free,then sometimes the airline will ask for a birth certificate.
